The Honda parts breakout calls it an 18mm lock nut. It is a 27mm. When I took it off, it didn't come off easy. We unstaked it but it still was tight right till the end.

Hey Steve in SF, My 7000 mile xr650l doesn't shift easily into 3rd gear sometimes. I have to hook my heal under the shifter to make it shift. Any ideas?

Just to clarify, you needed enough gas to make it 255 miles? I thought the 200 mile range would suffice. My XR650l has a 4.7 tank and I can make it 200 no problem but I'd hate to have to push it...

I really enjoyed the gear but like most gear, it was hot when standing still, and just fine while moving. The vents did a great job of allowing airflow. In Utah the coat was most likely coming off....

Watch your clearance on your air box. My XRs only exhaust melted a small hole in my air box. I had to modify the pipe a bit to get some clearance. See pics on walkers ride the tat ride report.
