Wow I have not seen a coating flake off like that but obviously some oils were left in the bore and were not completely cleaned out before the factory Nikasil style coating.

No issues. I do use smaller gauge motorcycle jumper cables so that may be safer.

Yeah I do not get it either. Seems to be a quality issue hit and miss on reflector coatings. I got 55,000 miles and had HIDs in her for 4 years and no signs of any reflector wear.
