I've had various tank bags over the years, and this one is perfect for dual sport riding. A little more expensive than some of the others, but it's a top quality product.

I've tried it on my '14 from speeds as high as 50mph in 4th gear: pull in the clutch, kill switch off/on, clutch out -- bike comes to a stop pretty quick but the engine won't turn over.

+1 on checking all the ground connections....and while you're at it check all the main + / - wires from the battery and main fuseblock. I found several loose connections on my '14.

Ugh... While the 690 is definitely easier to work on than my old 990 Superduke, I do miss the simplicity of my old air cooled DR650 with regard to maintenance. You could fix almost anything on that...
