The shortest time I've kept a bike is 7 years. My first bike lasted 16 years, before I decided to upgrade. I tend to research and pick out bikes that I know I will be happy with.

I cover the front brake with index and middle finger 95% of the time. Find it to be second nature and perfectly comfortable. This is on a VFR800 with adjustable shorty levers.
