What he said. Just rode them all Monday. The places on Cinnamon they just fixed were by far the hardest. I'd take Engineer then over to Corkscrew, no recent fixes, much much easier.

You can use sprockets for a real stump pulling ratio in first and still cruise on the highway nicely.

I did it a month ago on a fully loaded F800GS. No rough spots at all worth noticing anywhere. Been over it on big street bikes too, it was just fine if a bit slower.

This is the one I have, everything you need except the wrenches....

Do the high places first. They may get snowed in for good at any time. Pretty much any road you may find has old mining structures and scenic stuff. Get to Ouray and ride the passes around there...

I had them both. Couldn't sell the KLR fast enough. I really liked the DR 650.

Better at everything except maybe carrying 250 lbs of gear down a smooth road.

Any 450 will go just fine for hours on any highway. Hell a 250 will on all but the interstates. Get a decent seat, appropriate sprockets, and enjoy the ride.
