A load of bullshit. My '08 has 36,000 miles on it and has never burned any oil. My '06 KLR was exactly the same with 14,000 miles, it never burned any oil at all.

I live at 3,500 ft and I've been up to 5,000 ft on my '08 with no difficulties but mileage dropped from about 50 mpg to 38-40 mpg. Most of the mileage loss was due to extremely strong head winds....
