Don't know the trail but if it includes elevation different than yours at home I'd consider reversing the airbox mod to stock, especially if your bike is a kicker.

I like my rear rack for trips...

Newer bikes have a shorter lever (less leverage, more rotation). Different gears (primary ratio) not a problem with kickstarter interchange. About 94 I think. It's all in this thread somewhere.
