Its too late now but all the screws on any Japenese bikes are of the JIS variety. A set of JIS screwdrivers goes a long way to prevent stripped screws, float bowls screws in particular.

I can't belive the inspection mechanic had no problem mounting it on your removable peice. It could very easily be "transfered" to a different bike. Then again I have seen many custom type bikes...

If you can only carry one tube carry a normal 21" front tube. It can be used on a 18" wheel just be careful that you don't pinch the tube when you mount the tire.
