+1 on the dragging disk, causing high heat, which boils water in the brake line, which puts the brake on hard. Clean both brakes out to prevent this in the future.

High Idle

I think the one time I had a high idle was when My throttle cables hung up a bit. I think I messed up when I put the tank on or something.

Talking Givi Airflow

I have one and I like it. The number one reason I do is having the ability to put the shield down on a hot day. When I cools off, I move it up. Surprisingly, you still get pretty good coverage in the...

Thumb Wee

I've owned the 1000 and a variety of touring bikes. For me, it's all about the weight. I just hated getting on a heavy touring bike. I love getting on my Strom 650. I love the ergos better than...

Talking Fz1

Don't mess with an FZ1. It's seriously powerful. You're constantly riding around with the throttle closed. It's for an advanced rider who has a lot of money to spend on insurance.

The Strom...

I've used several types and I like the Oxfords the best. The controller works pretty well if you can mount it on your bike. Found them on Ebay for a very good price.

I haven't tried the "Hot...

Never got a look on my Strom 650 or 1000. Now, you want a lady attractor, try riding the Burgman 400. Women approach and just gush over the (station wagon) practicality of the thing. Don't give me...

For me, I like the large size. Rare to find a mid sized engine in a large frame. Suits my large body well. Add to that, the light weight, OG friendly ergos and versatile rack and engine and you...

Eek Canadian bikes to California

Not sure which state you're going to but here's the bit on bringing a bike to California:

1) The bike has to have over 7500 miles, or they're going to want it to be smogged. (almost not worth the...

I really like the latches on the newer case. In the old days, it took two hands and some fiddling to open the Givi top box. The newer style allows you to twist the key, push the button with one...

I probably lucked out, but my Burg 400 was nearly $1000 cheaper than the Majesty.

Talking Kings Canyon July 09

My wife and I took a cabin in Kings Canyon and used it for a base camp. The NPS roads are in far better shape than we find in Santa Cruz CA. We enjoyed the ride down into the canyon, did the...

Talking Size

I would like to stay in the 400cc range, but I'm so huge and prone to putting the wife on the back, so the bigger bike makes sense. I was focusing on the TMax. How's the MPG on the Zook?

With any of the intercom, you want noise cancellation technology built in. I've found that the Starcom works well. Many like the moto com. Look at the quality of the cabling, microphones and the...

Gel Seat

I like my gel seat. I take care to keep it out of the sun. It is a much better seat than stock and it's significantly cheaper than a custom seat. I got mine online at Oneida Suzuki.

Have a look at a VStrom 650. Look around for a deal on an 06.
I dont care for the smog on the 07s.

It was voted best all around in a comprehensive test done by a
German ADV bike mag.
