I took it apart and did it properly. Here's a few tips. Warm up the honda bond tube. It will go on easier. The 1mm thickness suggested in the guide is way too much.

A little late but I don't think the rack is worth it. I doubt the box could take the extra weight on top. A bungee net should be able to carry just as much on top.

The tray has no absolutely no damage. The valves were not too noisy. I got it down to $2000 so I will grab it Monday. I might just end up selling my SMC and the V-Strom to get a KTM 950 supermoto.
