Great areas. I did a route a couple years ago starting near the beginning of the Pearl and zig-zaged crossing every (open) bridge crossing the Pearl to the southern end. It was a great day of riding and a bunch of nice bridges. You are right about a whole new world of side roads. Amazing what is out there if we just take time to look.
