Working with the Navy near Hawaii in the late '80s, getting Deck Landing Qualifications (DLQs) on a single spot fast frigate. Lots of excitement in only 6-8' seas with non-dampened, fixed skids. Now I know why the Navy birds only have wheels and long stroke shocks.
My brother flew the A4s' & A6s' back in the 60s' and early 70s' for the USN, he said night landings in high seas were also exciting. I think it also contributed to a five-way bypass early in life
