We were done with our tour of the park and on the road for San Jose by noon. It was an uneventful four hour ride back to the city, but surprisingly nice. San Jose is in the mountains, and you have to gain quite a bit of elevation before you arrive. I was expecting highway the entire way but the last 30 miles or so was a really fun twisty secondary road full of mountain twistys. The only down side was a bit of traffic, but in Costa Rica, bikes rule...and you just pass them wherever and whenever you want. It's expected.
The section from the airport to the city proper didn't let me down and was just as I remembered it...holy shit...but we made it back to Paseo Colon in central downtown and returned Thorstens bike to him just as promised at 4:00 p.m. with zero mishaps.

We spent the evening roaming around San Jose. There is a huge market place unlike anything I have seen in the states or elsewhere where you can buy anything....literally.
