Best way to accurize a mini 14 is to sell it for what you can get for it and buy an AR.

That out of the way, I shot prone "full-bore" match for most of my teens and 20's until I moved to the USA.
I shot a Sportco M44 single shot bolt from 300-500 yards, then switched to a Modified Lee enfield No 4 Mk I for 600-1000(or 1200).

Rifles had the following setups:
Sportco:
Sights: Central aperature rear, J.G. Anschutz front with interchangeable inserts.
Barrel: Dennis Tobler black stainless bull. (Chambered for 7.62 NATO)
Stock: Lionel Weeks walnut, custom.
Action: Sportco M44
Sling: J.G. Anschutz single point
Handstop: Old BSA stop.
No4:
Sights: Central Aperature rear, central front with interchangeable inserts.
Barrel: Originally parker hale (7.62 NATO) but changed out to Tobler.
Stock, Lionel Weeks Butt, Lionel weeks front lower, original upper (cut back).
Action: Longbranch No4 Mk I
Sling: J.G. Anschutz single point
Handstop: J.G. Anschutz

Both of these rifles could shoot, but the No.4 had a little better jump and throw-off characteristics at longer range than the more rigid M44.
