Carb replacement / substitute question...
I'm still working to rebuild my '84 RD01 but the carburettor pair is unfortunately that much clocked with dirt that it can't be cleaned any more...
The original is rather expensive (if available in first place...) and there fore I'm looking for an substitute... Which one could do the trick? In fact I only need the carburettor housing; I can move all the parts and needles from the original into the new housing.
The question I have:
- Which Honda Carburettor (or Carbhousing) can be used as affordable substitute?
- Perhaps a MK1 Transalp (till 1990 - from 1991 the carburettor is changed resulting in less power - the MK1 XL600V Transalp has 55 Bhp, the MK2 (> 1991) only 48)
- Or one of the earlier Africa Twin models, f.e. the XRV650?
- Other alternatives?
My RF (1985) version still runs faultless. I just love it, and desperate to get his older brother back on the road too. I'm hoping to get the info's I need from you guys...
