Came upon this as linked from the Zambian Joyride RR (see Awe. Some. above). This one is even better. Thanks for a great read with great insights about a great ride.

Many non-riding friends have seen and been impressed by "Long Way Round" and asked me what I thought of it. It's hard to explain to them that while I think it was an entertaining program, I didn't regard it as much of a noteworthy feat of two-wheeled adventuring. I now have a better answer, I'll tell them that if they want to learn about what real adventure riding is, I'll give them a link to this tale.
