Well I was pretty close to Lake Lure at this point so I decided to pass through there on my very own super secret route.
But first I would pass through Mill Spring.
Yep, they all look the same after a while
Every once in a while I see a rusty old truck that I think needs to have it's picture taken.
Andrews Geyser.....a nice place to take a break.
Fast forward 100 years from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War.
This stream is in the woods just behind the geyser and is what feeds it.
Sitting on a rock in the middle of that shaded stream made a nice place to cool my heels for a while.
...and to brush up on the Macarena
Some parting shots of the geyser.
Just past there the pavement ends but the train continues to chug it's way up the mountain!!
Part of old US70 that is now a bike path.
Same old, same old...back on the BRP.
I hopped off of that as quick as I could though and found the FS gate out the back of Craggy Gardens to be open so down the mtn I went.
Just a hint of yellow color here and there up high on these north facing slopes....fall should be here by now but it's still been 90+ for a high down on the flats every day!
Once down to the bottom I decided to take a detour to the top of Big Ivy...it's a 9 mile dead end at a trail head but a fun climb up and down the mountain anyway.
Some road side falls....
....more to come.....
