Thanks... I see we have some stuff in common. Looks like you got tired of the corporate environment too huh? Must have been a great ride all the way from NY... I guess all of us think about changing our lives at one point, but very few actually DO it... Well, for me, getting divorced helped a lot, since my ex. wouldn't dream of ever move more than 10Km from her mom's house
Moving to Brazil and setting up this business was a very interesting - sometimes frustrating - experience. for example: To get an alvará from the prefeitura in Volta Redonda, they need my registration at Turisrio, but to register at Turisrio, you need to have a copy of your alvará... Crazy, no?
I have been renting a place for almost a year now, and still don't have an alvará...

I would love to check out the other end of the BR101 (east of Caraguatatuba I mean). What kind of business do you have in mind?
