If a new rider insists on getting a bike like a ZX-14 and the salesperson gives him fair warning that's one thing. But, a salesperson that actually encourages a new rider to get one is the worst kind of douchebag.

Ya, that's ridiculous. I've been riding forever and this 14 scares the poop out of me sometimes. Jeez, a kid I used to work with bought a Triumph 600 (pre 650 and 675 days) for his first bike and managed to about pop his noggin looping it in first gear. I told him if he was any smarter he probably wouldn't have lived.
And the salesman tried to talk him into a 955i at the time.
