When I think standard, I think old English bikes, older sportsters, the UJM bikes, the w650, new Bonneville, the TU250.
A standard should be a bike that two people can jump on and go for a comfortable ride, with a real rear seat and pegs a normal size passenger can use for a few hours at least.
That style is still popular in other places, like Japan.
They get the cb400ss and other cool standards.
I have only ridden standards on the street since I started street riding 36 years ago.
Old Triumphs mostly, new Triumphs, Sportsters, tu250.
Old dual sports were standard bikes with a little more suspension...
I have dual sported standard street bikes, and rode standards all around the US, and never found I needed wind protection or a lot of plastic all over my bikes.
