I have been riding motorcycles on and off road for only 5 yrs, but I have a crapload of off-road miles on sugar sand. Momentum is your friend, but you gotta let off at some point.

In all honesty, I ride too conservatively more than I should. There's a fine line in there somewhere and I don't always find it myself. The good thing is you didn't get hurt. It's the "oh crap!" moments that make a ride FUN!!
