My 2007 525 xcw has a new to me fork cap  . It is perfectly round (no 48mm or 50mm) with a 24mm hex in the center that has a "Setting Knob + Screw" in the center of it. No holes for a peg spanner.
I've looked at the fiche and think I know but why break something if I can ask a bunch of FF's who are more experience in these matters than I? 
Question: Loosen the cap with the 24mm hex on the cap?

yes loose the 24mm nut and the fork cap will turn with it .
