as promised - the route:
Mars Hill, Holcomb, 197, 19E (unavoidable - sorry), 80N, 261/142 (Roan Mt), Cove Creek, 226, Unaka Mt. Rd, 395, Erwin (next time I take I26 for 2 exits and avoid getting lost), Flag Pond Rd, old 23. I think I did about 145miles (would be a bit less, but I did the gravel section of 197 3 times due to an non-incident)
