I have posted many of these, then and now pics in other threads, so I hope these are not to redundant. I love finding them, small shadows of the past, found here and there.

The photo below was taken in 1867, by Alexander Gardner as he followed the Kansas Pacific RR west to Denver. This was not a safe place to be in 1867.
