Been busy yesterday and today, working on a lid for the tub.
Worked out very well I think
Inspired by these pics I set to work
Maskingtape in the edge for protection of the paint, trying out how to bend the corners with angled aluminum strip ( what's that called in English ?? )
Made the entire rim
Clamped the -very wobbly- strip to a large piece of diamond/checkerplate and marked the size to be cut out:
Testfitting lid and hinges:
Poprivetted the rim to the lid, made spacers for the hinges and made a rack from scrap on the lid :
Knob for a grip and 2 locks for shutting the lid ( locks are for fastening a hardtop to a Suzuki Vitara or Tracker as it's called on the other side of the ocean
)
Large eyes for strapping stuff to the rack and reinforced the hinges:
