That is the oil pump drive gear off the clutch basket.
It has a pin that comes through the engine case with a cir clip that holds it.
The pin can wobble in the case and has end float also.
That intermediate gear in turn can wobble about but have never read of a failure ?
When I did the NSU screws I noted that wobble

A shim could be put under the circlip so the pin is more rigid but figured if it isn't broke don't fix it,the wobble is disturbing all the same but must be stable while operating.

Don't forget to clean and lube the brake pedal pivot while you are there.
