I would agree, from a maintance perspective, they are likely not a good idea. From a fun perspective, however, they are a riot, particulary with an unsuspecting monkey on board. My '08 tho has likely seen a few hundred of them with no I'll effects to date. Just try to avoid getting in to water deeper than the tub, that sucker makes for a pretty good boat which doesn't exactly help traction
