I've been lurking here for a while and have reviewed many of the threads but now I have finally a question that needs some opinion.
I am looking at buying a NC700S to do a 8 week trip around Australia and as my regular ride is a 29 year old Yamaha XJ750RL and despite all good intentions I'm not going to risk 20,000 km on such an old dear as the XJ.
I was looking at a Suzuki DL650 ABS Wee Strom but the Honda NC700 has caught my eye – more like my wallet, as the difference is a cool $2400 AUD or damn near $ 2500 USD (That I’ll buy a few extra beers plus farkels ~ I bet).
So the big question I have is...how does the NC700S (We don't have the X here in Oz) go when you are faced with a truck road train and you have to overtake a good 60 feet plus on the open road?
I guess you'll be cruising along at 120km/hr then the need for acceleration becomes apparent.
Thanks ~ Bert Munro – And yes I am a Kiwi and probably related somewhere.
I'm gonna bet no one here ever had to do an overtake like that one.
There isn't much acceleration above 120km/h, and I felt it went fast
enough up to 120. The trucks are riding that fast?
It's a rather heavy under 50hp bike, don't expect miracles.
It'll go better then you expect when you rely on torque to overtake in
3-5th gear, but at 120km/h you'll be bouncing a couple of gears off the
limiter to accelerate fast enough.
The Vstrom (or Versys) would be a lot faster here, but I'd still take the
