Pantah, you might try a kickstand foot for extra stability on soft ground, sand, or gravel. They aren't perfect but do help quite a bit. I have the Touratech foot and it cost about $30 as I recall. I am sure other companies make these as well. When installed it also gives you a bigger target to hit with your foot when you are trying to put the kickstand down.
I use the "moving horse method" to get on when ever I can as I'm totally "ballerina toes" otherwise...
"Moving horse method" = kickstand up , bike in gear, left foot on the peg, slip clutch to get moving stand up on left peg & throw right foot over..."moving horse"

Doing the "Chuck Norris" I'm always afraid i'm going to catch & rip the seat with my boot...
