Yes, 3 times.
The first was a Triumph Thunderbird from Cruise America in Oakland, Ca. in 1997. I had for a week and about 1100 miles. I went north as far as Muir Woods across the Golden Gate bridge and south as far as Big Sur.In the week I spent 3 days at Laguna Seca.
Second time I rented a Road King from Eagle Rider in Las Vegas. I was there for the Ducati Revs America rally and was the only one present on a Harley. Before the rally , my wife and I took a lap through Death Valley and after , down thgrough Needles,Ca, and Oatman , Az.
The last time , I flew to Costa rica and rented a XT 600 Yamaha from Wild Rider. I was only there 5 days but, that was a great trip.
Renting has worked for me . It's kind of expensive but, the pain of expense fades with time and the memories of the good times are what's left.
The good part is that you show up ready to ride, the bike is ready and you go. That's the way to get the best from the time you have.
