I got the factory luggage rack and put a Givi top case on it. Works like a charm, you just have to drill a couple of holes in to get the Givi plate screwed on properly (Two bolts will fit right through the existing holes but you need two more to properly secure it; I didn't have a big enough drillbit and ended up using zipties for the two that I had to drill). Bike would look absolutely ridiculous with panniers. Somehow, this is the only pic of the bike with the case on that I have handy:
