This is really no different than replacement parts in the auto industry… it's always cost more to assemble a vehicle from parts, than to buy it outright. That said, I think the issue here will become, just how deeply BMW will part out the sub-assembly for the headlight module. If they don't break it down, it will cause headache, but not necessarily an insurmountable problem, given the power of the Internet for research and procurement.
