Glad to have inspired a new direction. It is always hard to find new stuff in the same old roads I travel over and over.
I have taken the back way to Oroville several times. From Nevada City- 49/Moonshine/Marysville/Oregon Hill/LaPorte/Forbestown. It is a nice alternative. If you haven't taken 162 East of Oroville after it turns into the Oroville/Quincy highway, put that on your list too.
