It could get worse. Read the fine print on your insurance policy, if you have one. If your policy is the same as mine, your bike will not be covered if the TVIP is expired
Let me dig through some e-mails and I will send you the contact info for a Lawyer in Guadalajara that Kiko put me in touch with. He has a way of extending TVIPs for people with FM3 visas. He may be able to do the same for you with your tourist visa, but you will have to ask him. He speaks perfect English.
