Turned around at the gate and then promptly turned on a dirt road that went up the mountain. That was the trip I found out why waterproof boots were bad for water crossings. Feet were not dry until I had been home for a few hours and the boots took days to fully dry.

Now I know that this was the Little Piney River that I rode through. It was deeper than expected. Google maps correctly shows that the road does not connect through.
