I remember getting my copy of Motorcyclist in the mail, and low and behold, the 2003 Z1000 was on the cover. I said I will have one of these bikes. March 2003 came and my local dealer had an orange one on the floor. I wasn't in the position to buy, so my wheels began turning on how to unload some things to get it. Well, fast forward to October. The Z was still sitting. I coundn't take it anymore, so I traded my perfectly good 2001 F4i in without consulting with my new bride ( we were married October 2002) and brought the Z home. My wife was pissed, but she had every right, we were just married, just bought a house, and our first child was only 4 months old. Anyway, we're still married, I still trade bikes a lot, and eveything is well. The Z1000 is the only bike that I've had an emotional attachment to. I may even try and get another some day.
My second favorite has to be the 2007 KLR 650 I had. It was my first dual sport, and it introduced me to an entire new side of riding. Don't really know why I sold either. I guess it was the "Grass is greener" syndrome. I'm on my third KLR now!
