The manual advises against it because if you do not put the snap ring back in its seat correctly and it pops out, you'll lose all your oil pressure right then and there. Better for you to buy a new valve from them instead of the occasional idiot trying to sue them for a new engine.

Annndddd... did the snap-ring get reinstalled the right way; ie: so its' chamfered side is facing the spring?.
