Yes cleaning up the innerside of the rims is necessary.

I also ride the bikes an hour or so with about 1 bar pressure, this helps the tire to set properly (all kind of tires),
I have the same "outfit" mounted to the Bultaco the bike has too Acront / Llanta red label rims (old TR Type) like the SWM mounted.

The tubeless tires will not stay on original Yamaha TY twinshock rims if you have mounted them to your bike,
the bead of the rim is different in shape, (there are no hump's inside the rim).
