Hey bud,
GPS has saved my ass a few times. If for nothing else, it gives you a snail trail to follow back out. It gives you a coordinate if you need it for emergencies.. I started with a garmin GPSmap 62st and it was good but the power connection is a USB cable (WTF Garmin?). Now I am using a Garmin Montana and its been working nicely.
I'm glad you made it back to Moab. Safe rather then sorry is always the better option when traveling. Keep on keeping on man!
