JL was a podium finisher at Dakar. Ned is a mere mortal who is an outstanding, smart, and very determined rider. He chased his dream to race Dakar and was a successful finisher, and top American last year which was very cool. A huge accomplishment, and impressive considering his mortality
but JL was a factory rider for BMW.
Basically JL's immortality was established many years ago when he wheelied his 950 over the log and the picture was posted on the internet.
