The parts fiche shows the same part for the 2011 and 2012 990 R.
Once the earlier ones once the spring pins were removed the pin holding the pads in had to knocked out as they have another internal retainer like the one shown in the picture above. It appears the current models are the same.
Only a little force was needed - IIRC I once did it with a small screw driver and a pair of pliers.
