I have always gone by sound, IE spoke tension, not nipple tension. Get each side of the wheel to be roughly in tune with itself. Depending on hub offset you can end up with all the same or not. Once everything is sound tuned, adjust until the wheel is straight. For bicycles you can get a fancy spoke tension gauge that flexes the spoke, and is said to be the most accurate, same concept may be available for the moto.
ATGATT: When you fall off your motorcycle, you will be wearing what you were when you got on your motorcycle. Dress accordingly.
