It doesn't hurt you to call your agent. It doesn't cost him/her a dime one way or the other if it's covered. It's in his/her best interests to help get it covered, make you a happy camper and keep you as a customer.

If, on the other hand, you are insured directly with the carrier then they may be prone to deny it as it does come out of their coffers - in which case you probably should review your policy prior to calling them and find some way to make the case to them that it is covered.
