It would need to be a reflector design with the LED shining into the reflector, not straight out towards the front. A visor/shutter over the top half of one of lights being sold now makes very little difference in terms of being friendly to oncoming traffic, it's still blinding. I bought a shaped beam light for my bike that uses a reflector to eliminate glare to oncoming pedestrians/bikes/cars, and with a "lowly" output of 270 lumens, it puts the "1000 lumen" bike light to absolute shame in terms of the light field quality, throw, and effectiveness. Just saying, it has to be more than something stuck on the front of the light in case that's what the clipped beam idea is.
Kicking ass seems to be THE ONLY solution to life's problems. Kicking ass is the first, second and third option. Plan B and C are also kicking ass.
