I rode for years in "Upland Game Jeans". These are regular blue jeans with Cordura Nylon overlays sewn on the legs. The nylon is basically like "chaps" sewn on top of the jeans. They are made for hunters who are shooting birds in fields full of brambles & burrs. I used to get mine from Cabela's sporting goods, here in the states for $29.00 (USD). The nylon only goes up to about pocket height, so your gentleman's cabbage & buttocks are totally unprotected & there is no impact protection, just abrasion resistance. However, that's better than nothing, and the price is certainly right. Shipping them to your sceptered isle would probably be expensive, but you lads have a lot of pheasant & grouse shooters over there (in Scotland anyway) so I'm sure you could find the same thing locally. They are even mildly rain resistant & they leave your wallet, keys, change etc. just where they usually are in your regular jeans.
