I agree a bend upward which would be a bend backwards when the kick stand is down might be a way around it, but could weaken the stand with all of the weight on it.

If you are using 0.120" wall DOM tubing of 3/4" diameter I think an S bend would be strong enough.

What if you just made it straight instead of the arch in it and then angled the foot pad to hit the floor flat? That might lessen the drop down when up???
Kelly, the stock kickstand already angles toward the ground when it is in the stowed position, so more length results in less clearance. I tried a length of straight tubing, but at that angle it added another 6" until it reached the ground, so it sticks way out there.
