Following on to my post 12298, above.
If you go to http://www.megamanual.com/index.html
you can read a description of how this system works, in general terms.
It's kinda heavy reading, for me anyway, but if you take it one step at a time, you'll learn how the system works, and what kind of inputs it can use.
The Microsquirt unit is mainly just a miniature Megasquirt unit, built with ultra-small components. Because of its small size, there needs to be some changes to handle functions needing more current and/or voltage, which is handled with outboard accessory units as needed.
For an idea of what's available and prices here's just one distributor. http://www.diyautotune.com/
There are others.
For sure, there is a lot to read and learn, but the system seems to be quite comprehensive, and I have no doubt that it could be applied to the @. I'm not sure I have the dedication to pull such a project to fruition, but it has always intrigued me.
I saw a mention of someone who has applied Megasquirt to a Honda VTR1000, which can't be too far from the RD07 engine. Hmmmmm.
