I removed the metal lic plate frame and bolted the plate directly to the fender and the whole back end still broke off my bike. If you put in a couple of hundred miles on unpaved FSRs you need to do more than lighten the rear end. It must be re-enforced. The problem is the black plastic housing which holds the tail light is not sufficiantly secured to the rest of the bike and given enough bumps and vibration it will fail.
