I was lucky, it didnt go flat. The nail was half way in the tire at an angle the parallel to the tube and inner wall of the tire. I took it down to one of the vendors and for $10 he dismounted and looked it over and put it back together. I just had to pack it the 1/4 mile to him and wait the 3 hours. I would say on the trail for me it would depend how far out I was. I run 2 wheel locks on the back wheel so I would probably just keep going if I was close to the exit or start. Halfway back I would fix it. On the front you just stop and fix it.
