This could be a great thing. As long as someone manages the details (like who has what where) and also sets up the what happens if/when... policies.

The third class or catagory could be exanded a bit for those with expertise (and a willingness) to help n00bs with learning some of the skills to maintain/service/repair their particular bike. Having access to a local 'expert' when things go sideways is always 'a good thing'.
